Modena is situated in the heart of the Emilia Romagna region, in the North-East of Italy.

From Modena, one can reach Milan in under two hours, Florence in an hour and a half, and Rome in three and a half hours. The Bologna airport, situated 39 km from Modena, serves all the main national and many international routes. The other international airports closeby are Airport of Milano Linate (170 km), Milano Malpensa airport (230 km) and Milano Orio al Serio airport (200 km) ,  Verona Airport (90 km) and Venezia Airport (230 km).

There are some shuffle services from many of the previous airports (for instance 24 h private transfers from Modena (hotel/home) to the Airport and/or vice versa).

You may buy the bus ticket on bus station, train station and newspaper/tobaco shops but also on board. On board the ticket price is 1.20 Euro (for one zone), 2 Euros (for two zones).
The ticket machine accepts only coins, but 0,02 and 0,01.

 

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS “M. BIAGI”

The Department is located in the centre of Modena and is very easy to reach:

  •  from the bus station (500 metres away)
  •  from the railway station (1 kilometre away) either on foot, along viale Monte Kosica, viale Fontanelli and then viale Berengario, or by bus: bus n 1 (direction Villaggio Zeta) or n 4 (direction Galilei)
  •  by car (the nearest motorway exits are Modena Nord and Modena Sud; a large car park is available)
  •  by plane: the closest airport is Bologna Airport, Aereoporto Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ).

From there, you can have two alternatives: – take a shuttle bus connecting the Airport to Bologna’s train station and then take a train to Modena; – take the shuttle bus connecting Bologna Airport directly to the town of Modena. You must get off the bus at the Modena bus station.

Modena offers a different hotel options in centre-town and outside. Anyway May is considered touristic period and there are several initiatives, conferences and fairs so hotels could be crowded during EGPA spring ws 2016.

We recommend you to stay at one the following centrally located hotels in Modena. They are all located within reasonable distance to the workshop location.

We have reserved a quota of rooms at these hotel listed below. If you wish to stay at one of these hotels, please follow their booking formalities described in the document attached below (EGPAModena2016_hotels).

The number of reserved rooms is limited and bookings restricted to a certain time frame. We advise you to book early!

A quota of 80 rooms is reserved for workshop participants until different deadlines.
